Once there lived two friends named Lauren and Kaitlyn. One thing Kaitlyn and Lauren loved to do was play chess. They were very good at it too. Everyday after school they would play on their old chessboard.

One day, their old favorite chessboard broke. But luckily Kaitlyn and Lauren saved enough money to buy a new one. They went out to a store and picked out a new chessboard that shined like gold. They hurried home to play on it.

They set up to play. Kaitlyn made the first move. As soon as she did, the board lit up and sucked them into Chess World. Chess World was a giant chessboard with people actually taking roles of pieces. There was a person wearing a crown who was probably the King. Kaitlyn pointed out that there were thousands of other children who probably fell for the same trick. Lauren read the rules "The team that wins the game will be freed from Chess World". "We will surely win together," said Lauren. But unfortunately, they were chosen to be on separate teams. Lucky for them they were chosen as captains. They had control over the team. So the game began. Kaitlyn was a Rook and Lauren was a Knight. In the first few moves, both teams were up to a good battle capturing plenty. They were playing so good that Lauren even made a Check. But then they realized if they both want to get out, neither team could loose. So there was only one way out. They had to tie! The winning team would always from then on make a wrong move for the opposite team to catch up. In the middle of the game, Lauren forgets that she is trying to tie and shows off one of her trickiest moves, the En Passant. Luckily, Kaitlyn knew how to avoid this move. The game went on like this and ended in a perfect Stalemate, a tie! As soon as this happened, light filled the board and took them back home. "What a game we played" said Lauren. "Yeah!" said Kaitlyn "the game of our life!"
